Tawas Area Presbyterian Preschool/Daycare is part of Tawas Area Presbyterian Church and a mission to the community in which it lives. The Preschool/Daycare upholds the belief that every child is created and loved by God, as declared in the Old and New Testaments and revealed in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The mission of the Preschool is to provide an atmosphere that allows the preschool child to experience God's love and a program that nurtures the preschooler's social, emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual growth.

OUR PROGRAM GOALS

• To provide opportunities to experience Christian love for God, His creation and others.

• To provide a developmentally appropriate, child-centered approach to preschool education.

• To develop fine and gross motor skills, and foster the development of listening and verbal skills.

• To encourage independence, creativity, self-expression, and develop self-control.

• To learn to accept and follow directions and to assume responsibilities.

• To learn basic safety rules and good health practices.

• To support families in their efforts to help their children develop as healthy, thoughtful, responsible and spiritual individuals.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Two programs are being offered for the Fall of 2010. Each program has a curriculum planned for a specific age group. All curriculum is developmental and Christian-based by design.

Children enrolled in preschool must be toilet trained according to our licensing requirements.

Each class is staffed with warm and loving teachers who work together to achieve an interesting and challenging curriculum.

All program activities and logistics will be coordinated with the preschool and church staff to maximize learning and growth opportunities.

Preschool The teacher-child ratio is approximately 1: 6 in the Tues/Thurs. 3's program, 1: 8 in the MWF 4's program.

In addition to all staff members being CPR/First Aid certified, they are required to continue updating their skills through attending classes in Early Childhood development.

Should you be considering Tawas Area Presbyterian Preschool/Daycare for your child for the fall, please consider having your child attend our Vacation Bible School Program the first week in August. Trisha Szatkowski will be teaching a Preschool age group in the classroom. By the end of that week, your child will be familiar with their "new school" before they even arrive in the fall!
