In the
world of keyboard music, there are those who take lessons,
practice all their lives, and still struggle to play their
instrument. Then there is Melanie Bowie who, before she actually
had many formal music lessons, already had the "gift"
of making music. Dr. Bill Cargo refers to Melanie as a "musical
genius" and those of us who know her, wholeheartedly
agree.
Melanie
began piano lessons at age 5 and was drafted into service
by the Shoreline Players at age 10. On September 14th, we
will be the recipients of her amazing gift when she steps
to the keyboard.. She will be playing an eclectic program
including: Virgil Fox's arrangement of Now Thank We
All Our God, Widor's Toccata, and Scott
Joplin pleasers.
Recently,
Melanie said that this is a "great honor" for her.
She has never given a concert before - and LUCKY FOR US -
this premiere event is being held here, at TAPC. Playing our
beautiful Allen organ and Horugal grand piano, you can be
sure it will be an evening you won't want to miss. And, don't
let your friends miss it, either.
