Thanks
to the anonymous donor who gave three thousand dollars to
cover the catered luncheon. We had other expenses including
the invitations and postage, The memory book and flowers.
Thanks
to everyone who sent in donations, helped in any way and sent
in memories for the memory book. Thanks to all the people
who filled bud vases for the tables. You did a great job!
It was
so exciting to have Nancy Custead, the daughter of Rev. Walter
Taylor, the pastor of Calvary Presbyterian church in Flint,
at our anniversary celebration. She shared that our pulpit,
communion table and numerous other pieces in our sanctuary
were made by Harvey Brower, and she actually watched him do
some of it. She heard about our anniversary celebration from
two classmates, Margaret Derthick and Sharon Passmore at their
high school reunion and decided to come.
I'd still
like to get more memories. I wish someone would write about
the flood, committee meetings at the lake on a pontoon and
some youth events.
All the
money received for the anniversary celebration and not used
will go towards the mortgage.
My prayer
for this church is that we will continue to serve the Lord
and reach out to those who have left our congregation, letting
them know that they may be gone but not forgotten. It was
so nice to have so many of them here for our celebration.
It was
a personal joy for me to work on this. May the grace and peace
of Christ be with you.
