The Deacons

The Deacons did not meet in April, but we are always aware that the needs of many must still be met. Thefood, so generously being brought into the Deacons'Box by you, seems to go out immediately to the needy and the hungry. The "Buy one-Get one Free" offers in the area stores as well as bargains in the various Dollar Stores provide a great opportunity for us to contribute a few items every so often.

Suggested items that are especially needed:

Box dinners (Macaroni and Cheese, Tuna/Hamburger Helper, Pasta/Rice/Potatoes, etc.)
Canned goods: soup, pasta, tuna, fruit, ravioli, stew, hash, etc.
Cereal and Crackers
Peanut butter and jelly
Pasta and sauce
Boxed potatoes of all kinds
Paper products
Cleaning products

The next Deacons meeting will be Thursday, May 1st, at 4:30 p.m.
We urge each Deacon to keep in touch with all those on their lists, whom we have the privilege to serve, and especially to forward (by telephone) any information coming from E mail to those without computers.

It is time, once again, for Health Fair Kits as coordinated by our Mission Committee. Each year, for about 20 years now, the Presbytery of Lake Huron holds five-day Health Fairs each summer for the hundreds of migrant workers who come to the area to work on local farms. Over the years the number of migrant families has declined, so although they are still the main emphasis, Presbytery also holds health fairs for needy inner-city children. Any leftover kits are then distributed to women's and men's shelters. YOU can help meet these critical needs by putting together a health kit. The kit (bag with instructions) will be available for you to pick up in the Deacon's corner of the Foyer on the first two Sundays in May.
Completed kits need to be returned to the church no later than Sunday, June 1st.

The Women's Bible Study has concluded for the spring, and will resume at the end of the summer.

Why not find a quiet time for individual Bible study and meditation on your porch or in the garden this summer?
