| MEMORIAL
COMMITTEE UPDATE: |
|
On May
10, 2008, several members of the Memorial Committee gathered
at the garden and did some extensive cleaning. The leaves
were removed from the garden in readiness for a fresh layer
of cypress mulch to be placed around trees and bushes, the
first week of June. Benches and walkways were hosed and cleaned.
|
|
On May
15th the Committee took a road trip to Begick Nursery in Bay
City to purchase new items for the garden: 3 flowering trees,
2 cement decorative benches, 17 "Yellow Belle" Day
Lilies, and a large urn to be filled with flowers and placed
next to the Columbarium.
|
|
Ten Red
Pine trees were planted in the area behind the garden (on
the Oak knoll) on Monday, May 19th by two members of the Facility
Committee. The first week of June, the Committee will be planting
a selection of annual flowers in the garden. (Editors note:
If you haven't seen the beautiful display of tulips and hyacinths
in full bloom now - planted last fall - do so before they're
gone. They are spectacular!)
|
| Beginning
in June, the Memorial Committee will be meeting on the 3rd Tuesday
of the month, 10:30 a.m., in the church Parlor. |
