The purpose
of the Christian Education Committee is to provide for life-long
learning opportunities in the Christian faith for all ages.
The committee met the second Monday of the month, or as needed.
Serving
on the committee in 2011 were: Linda and Larry Acord, Tracy
Clairmont, Ed and Susan Davis, Jill Gould, Mary and Tom Hall,
Jeanne Hebner, Shaynee Paauwe, Newana Visser, and Pastor Rick
Vogeley.
Programs
and activities offered in 2011 were:
- Sunday
School classes September-May (led by Newana Visser,
Mary Hall, Jeanne Hebner, Laurie Jacot, Tracy Clairmont,
Andy Clairmont and Shaynee Paauwe).
- Children's
worship packets (assembled by Judie Allen)
- Tawas
Area Presbyterian Preschool/Daycare (Preschool September-May,
Daycare as needed), "Planting Seeds in the Community"
(led by Shaynee Paauwe, with Director Trisha Szatkowski)
- VBS
"Son Rock Kids Camp." first week of August,
93 children and youth walked "the trail of life"
(led by Shaynee Paauwe)
- Special
youth activities Souper Bowl of Caring (led by Michael
Jacot, Jill Gould, and Ed Davis); Easter Egg Hunt (led by
Mary Hall and Susan Davis); Bay City Youth Confirmation
Retreat and "Solomon" musical (led by Jeanne Hebner
and Pastor Vogeley)
- Adult
Classes Lenten series, "The Case for Christ"
(led by Pastor Vogeley); Twice monthly Women's Bible study
"People in the Bible" (led by Jan Fox and Patty
Vogeley).
- Special
Adult activities "Blessing of the Bikes" (led
by Jeanne Hebner and Pastor Vogeley); Fourth of July float
(led by Tom and Mary Hall, Jeanne Hebner, Newana Visser,
Margaret Derthick, Betty Senter, Ed Davis and Pastor Vogeley)
