| The
Men's Fellowship Group meets on the 2nd Monday of each month
for a 8:00 A.M. breakfast at Patti's Kountry Kitchen. About
3 years ago we initiated the "Shoe Project" in response
to an obvious need in our area. Attendees at the breakfast contribute
$1.00 (or more) into a shoe box. Additional funds are derived
from the annual Easter Sunday breakfast which is prepared and
served by the group.
This
year we became aware of Health Key, an outreach of St. Joseph
Hospital, which provided shoes or boots (among many other
things like backpacks) to a number of area school district
children. Their representative, Cathy Maxwell addressed the
group on Monday, December 12 after we had sent them a contribution
of $300. They are in the process of procuring matching funds
and will purchase shoes/boots early next year for distribution.
Cathy will update us on the results of this project at that
time.
