| JUST
A THOUGHT . . . . . |
(FROM
THE PERSON IN THE NEXT PEW)
|
Recently
I overheard someone asking Pastor Rick if he knew who wrote
this monthly article some years ago. He didn't, since it was
before his time at TAPC. I confessed that I was the author.
Pastor suggested that maybe I should try again to gather my
thoughts into an article of faith. So here I am, feeling "needed"
again. Which brings me to my subject. Having just passed through
one of the "neediest" times of the year - the holidays
- when we all feel over-needed, (family, church, charities,
cooking, baking, shopping, etc. to the point of never wanting
to be needed again), it is important to remember that we are
needed by God to do his work and be of service to all
people. It is even more important to remember that we need
God in our lives at all times - to guide us and nurture
our spirit. To be needed in God's house - and among the people
of our community and the world - is a task we should take joyfully.
If we weren't needed, we would feel lonely and unloved. Finding
a happy medium is never easy. The next time you feel "over-needed"
try to do what is important in God's eyes and you will only
feel burdened with love. You will truly be lifted up. For to
serve others, even in small ways, is the best way to be needed.
Pray about this! |
