We
begin our Lenten pilgrimage on Ash Wednesday - Feb. 6th
with a simple soup and bread supper (6 p.m.) followed by the
Ash Wed service- (imposition of ashes). The soup suppers continue
through Lent every Thursday starting Feb. 14th
at 6 pm and continue each Thursday during Lent up through
Maundy Thursday - March 20th. The study, following the soup
supper, will be a Bible study series on the Parables of Jesus,
led by Pastor Vogeley. Why not spend some quality time this
Lent and bring a friend?
Please
sign-up (in the Servery) to help prepare the soup & bread
for the supper.

"This
God-given idea that began with one church youth group is transforming
Super Bowl Sunday into the largest youth-led day of giving
and serving in our country," said the Rev. Brad Smith,
a Presbyterian minister who founded the Souper Bowl of Caring
and serves as its executive director. The groups that participate
are asked only to report their totals so that a national figure
can be calculated. The program has raised $41 million since
its inception in 1990. Over $8 million was raised in 2007,
and nearly 15,000 groups are registered to participate this
year. All the money raised is given to local charities by
the groups who raise it. "Presbyterians have a rich history
and strong tradition of bearing witness of the gospel to the
world," Smith said, "The Souper Bowl of Caring is
a contemporary example of that." Smith started the Souper
Bowl 17 years ago while serving as a seminary intern at Spring
Valley Presbyterian Church in Columbia, SC.
Our TAPC
youth, in conjunction with the mission committee of Session,
is designating the money collected to go to F.I.S.H. our local
ecumenical caring agency, for their food pantry.
