BOARD
OF DEACONS: "It is the duty of Deacons, first
of all, to minister to those who are in need, to the sick, to
the friendless, and to any who may be in distress, both within
and beyond the community of faith." (Book of Order)
A meeting
of the Board of Deacons met after the January Elder-Deacon
meeting on January 9, 2010.
Our Deacons
continue to keep in contact with both their regular care list
and also "friends" of the church. We have kept busy
with the Michigan Blood Drives, which are held in the Parlor,
every other month. The next Drive is February 8, from noon
to 6 p.m. Susan Davis has volunteered to coordinate both this
blood drive and the next one in April. We appreciate all the
volunteers for the drives, and anyone in the congregation,
who is interested, may also volunteer to coordinate a drive
(it is NOT difficult).
Kathy
Reddick has stepped down as the F.I.S.H. representative in
Tawas. We thank her for her dedicated time and the number
of years she has served in this capacity. Laurie Jacot has
volunteered to take that responsibility in Tawas, and Vida
Minard continues to be our representative in Oscoda. Our thanks
to both of them!
2 Coins
A Meal collection for December, was $72.00.
Additional
booklets and brochures have been added to the book rack in
the foyer. A $50 donation was made to the book publisher for
these materials.
The
Deacon's next meeting will be Thursday, March 4, at 4:30 p.m.
