| The
Deacons |
| It
is the duty of Deacons to minister to those who are in need,
to the sick, to the friendless, and to any who may be in distress
both within and beyond the community of faith. |
The
Deacons
Invite you to go Caroling
to our Shut-ins - on Sunday - December 16th |
| We
will meet at the church and then leave in car pools at 4:00
p.m. As always, the weather will dictate whether we carol
outside to our members, or inside at the local care facilities
and residences. We will return to the Vogeley's house at 1267
East Lincoln for Sloppy Joe sandwiches and beverages. (Dress
warmly, and bring a flashlight to help you see the words, in
case we are outside in the dark.)
We did
not have a meeting this month, but there are many activities
going on here at TAPC.
|
- We
did collect money to send phone cards for those serving
in military war zones, or wounded in hospitals. We pray
this will bring them joy to be able to talk with their loved
ones over the holidays. Next year we want to start earlier
in the season, filling boxes of "Goodies" to send
them to let them know how grateful we are of their love
and service for our country.
- The
Deacons now have their own "Corner"
in the new Foyer, outside the entrance to the Narthex. Spiritual
publications, information and donation boxes are all located
here, for your convenience.
The need for non-perishable food and paper items for the
Deacons' Food Box is never-ending, and we thank you
for continuing to help feed the hungry.
- The
Deacons' Linen Closet supplies bedroom and kitchen
linen items to those in need. A new Linen Box for your contributions
can now be found next to the Food Box in the Foyer - and
we thank you for your support of this ministry.
- The
Fellowship Committee needs your help in supplying
cookies for our Sunday morning Fellowship Hour following
worship services. The sign-up sheet is in the Servery, and
they are so grateful when you contribute.
- The
Mission Committee is busy with Christmas Baskets
and the Charlie Brown Christmas Gift Tree. (See separate
article.)
- Some
of our Deacons are ending their terms and will be passing
on their responsibility to others. You will be informed
if you are going to have a new Deacon. Thank you to all
those who serve!
|
| Lastly,
let us all give thanks to our Lord for the many blessings we
have received this year. Building God's Vision was a hope for
all the members, and the reality has been an inspiration. |
| MERRY
CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL! |
