Assembly Report:
Effective
July 10, 2011 the Book of Order will have a number
of changes in it. Amendment 10-A passed, which changes the
ordination standards from "living in fidelity within
the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman or chastity
in singleness' to "joyfully submitting to the
Lordship of Jesus Christ". This removes the national
standard categorically prohibiting the ordination of persons
(pastors, elders or deacon) in sexual relationships outside
of marriage between a man and a woman. This shifts the ordination
standards from a national level to a local church level. The
Session of TAPC voted against this amendment, as did Lake
Huron Presbytery, and we are waiting to fully understand how
this change will affect TAPC, and the denomination. More discussions
will follow on both sides of this Issue.
Deacons
Report - May "2 Coins a Meal" was $159.00
and June was $104.00.
Stewardship/Finance
- This years Operating Fund Campaign will kick off right after
Labor Day using a modified version of the Pony Express. Revenues
for both the Operating Fund and Mortgage Reduction are down
but with carry-over from last year we still have YTD positive
balances. We ask that you prayerfully consider what God is
asking you to give so that we can continue his work.
