| ONE
GREAT HOUR OF SHARING |
| More
than 60 years ago, in response to the devastation of WWII, a
Saturday evening nationwide broadcast asked Americans to give
generously the next morning in their churches. A remarkable
variety of national leaders and celebrities gave their efforts
to the broadcast, and more than 75,000 churches responded, representing
many Christian denominations. |
How
are those gifts used? They are roughly divided into thirds:
1. Self-Development of People (32%)
2. Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (32%),
3. Presbyterian Hunger Program (36%), and
the remaining 4% goes to the PHP for its work on homelessness
and affordable housing.
|
| This
year's offering theme, drawn from Jesus' last encounter with
his disciples, highlights the message he leaves them - to focus
not on one's own needs, but on those of others. "Do
you love me?" he asks three times. Three times he repeats
a variation of the instruction, "Feed my Sheep."

LINGER
FOR LUNCH PROGRAM
"A Tour of Egypt"
by
Bill and Roxanne Rosenfeld
Sunday, April 11 ~ 11:15 a.m. |
|
Mark your
calendar and linger after worship on April 11. Enjoy a light
lunch, beginning at 11:15 a.m., then stay for the 45-minute
travelogue, presented by Bill and Roxanne Rosenfeld, when
they'll share slides from their recent trip to Egypt. Who
built the pyramids and why? What happened to the Great Sphinx?
What does your name look like, written in hieroglyphics? What
is Egypt like today?
There
is no need to bring any place setting, but PLEASE CONSIDER
signing up in the Servery to bring 6-8 sandwiches, OR a salad
OR a dessert. (4-5 of each are needed).
